Celebrating 2019’s Veteran Car Run

The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run isn’t usually an event that Fast Car Finance customers get involved with, but we want to feature it on our blog because one of our customers is taking part this year in their 1901 Darracq. The Fast Car Finance team want to wish him all the best of luck, but we think it’ll take you far less time in the Ferrari 599 GTB that we financed earlier this year!
If you’re normally more of a fan of our classic cars than their modern day equivalents then have a read below to find out more about this iconic race.
There’s loads of information on the Veteran Car Run website, but in summary it’s an annual pilgrimage for veteran cars (pre-1905). Many racers will be dressed in period costume and approximately 400 cars will leave Hyde Park on Sunday 3 November. They’ll head out of London, past Croydon and through many villages and small towns in Sussex before arriving in Brighton.
A number of veteran car enthusiasts will be taking part, including Alan Titchmarsh driving a 1902 Mors and motoring guru Fuzz Townshend will be behind the National Motor Museum’s 1904 De Dion Bouton.
The event first started in 1927 and is the finale of the Royal Automobile Club’s annual London Motor Week. The Run Route guide can be found here and the spectator guide can be found here.
